DesignOps: The API of design teams

22.06.23 (19H ES - 15H AR) | LINKEDIN LIVE

Design operations are part of designers day to day whether they know it or not, and whether teams and companies have officially invested in this function. It’s everywhere: from the moment you apply to a job, the interview process, to when you finally join a new team and start to ship work. You may even be doing parts of it without knowing it has a name!In this talk, Inayaili will show us how design ops can be done within your teams more intentionally to:

➔ Create strong connections between different parts of design.
➔ Build trust and a sense of community among designers.
➔ Encourage design practices that lead to high quality design discussions and, consequently, better products.

Also, will show us some things that have tried at GitHub, some things that didn’t work, and give you a few ideas to try out in your teams.

Inayaili is a Staff Design Program Manager where she focuses on design operations. Previously, she was a Senior Designer at Microsoft, and she led the team creating Canonical’s Vanilla design system.

She writes for well-known online publications and on her own blog, and speaks at international conferences. She’s the co-author of Pro CSS for High Traffic Websites (Apress, 2011), and author of Moving to Responsive Web Design (Apress, 2016). She’s Panamanian Portuguese, and lives in London.
